After recording all the lyrics, Mr. Zloteanu and I decided to change the name of the album from Doamne, te rog, scoate-ma la montaj (God, please, cut me out in editing) to Blândețe (Gentleness) after I convinced him that the work in progress title would be a mouthful. Gentleness is a common theme throughout the poems, a word that stands out, and is present on three of the twelve tracks/poems: Hram, Blândețe, and Tot mai aproape. The poems were recorded four at a time in three sessions. In each session we took a different approach. For the first session I asked Mr. Zloteanu to read the poems freely. I then provided him with four different tempos and asked him to record each poem while having a metronome play a different tempo for each poem in his headphones. As for the third session I sent him rough drum tracks that were not used on the final tracks and asked him to record each poem while listening to a different drum track in his headphones. the purpose of this experiment was to attempt to give Mr. Zloteanu more control over the rhythm of the poems, and to allow him to lock me into certain patterns of cadence. This proved invaluable as it allowed me to contour and flesh out the track around each recording instead of composing a musical piece I would then desperately try to incorporate the spoken lyrics into.
